Client
Books & Cauliflowers is an independent publisher passionate about delivering original books that surpass customer expectations by combining thoughtful design with engaging content.
Goal & challenge
To design and produce a high-impact, engaging activity book aimed at children aged 4–8, themed around air travel, combining educational content (puzzles, sudokus) with entertainment (coloring, crosswords, find the difference). The ultimate aim is to create a valuable resource that successfully occupies and engages children during travel, thereby providing peace to parents.
The main challenges center on the initial branding stage and the book's design appeal:
Branding challenge (stage zero - Books & Cauliflowers logo)
To manage the conceptualization and design of the core brand identity (the "Books & Cauliflowers" logo) that is versatile enough to appeal to two distinct audiences: the child (fun/playful) and the parent (trustworthy/professional). This ensures the logo is viable for this children's book and potential future material targeting a wider user base.
Content and usability challenge
To ensure the design and complexity of the 10+ activity types (puzzles, coloring, sudokus, etc.) are perfectly scaled for the wide 4–8 age range. This requires maintaining visual interest and clarity for younger children while ensuring the activities are challenging enough for older children, all within a highly usable format suitable for a travel environment.
