1. Discovery
Briefing
IUOE Local 115 participants:
Business Manager, Treasurer, and Senior Marketing and Communications Manager.
Design agency participants:
CEO, Content Strategist, and Lead Designer.
- Meeting with client at their headquarters to know what, why, when, who.
- Observation of materials/designs for inspiration.
Gathered requests
Four users:
20-65 year-old union members, retirees, recruitment team, contractors
Visual preferences:
Bold, dark backgrounds, grunge fonts, angles, metal textures, modern
Voice:
Inspirational, "cool club", "bad ass"
Functionality:
Informative, new member sign up, newsletter subscription, job applications

Wordpress, limited plugins, CRM integration, mobile first f

2. Concept
Moodboard
- Determine the look & feel for the website.
- A darker orange as included to improve contrast (accessibility) on light backgrounds.

4. Prototype design
Mobile first
Create a prototype of the full site based on the approved moodboard and site map.
Visually aggressive, high-impact aesthetic that successfully appeals to the 'bad ass' culture of recruitment, while maintaining accessibility and clear navigation for diverse users, including 65-year-old retirees and contractors needing critical information.
Presentation
The first prototype was presented in person, at the IUOE Local 115 headquarters to the Business Manager, Treasurer, and Senior Marketing and Communications Manager.
